About

An active and versatile musician, David Faleris brings an inimitable breadth of experience and aptitude to every project — whether it’s composing/arranging, audio design/production, teaching/performing, or even developing information solutions for arts organizations.

David’s music is bold and fresh while remaining wholly accessible to performers and audience members alike; his compositional voice is distinct yet familiar. Evidence of this can be found in the track placement of recent album recordings: Taming Giants (opening track, commissioned/recorded by Aries Quartet — Joseph Alessi, Ian Bousfield, James Markey, Jeremy Wilson); A Martyred Village (opening track, commissioned/recorded by Axiom Brass); A Liminal Space (opening track, commissioned/recorded by Jeremy Wilson); and, City of Arts and Sciences (closing track, commissioned/recorded by Elysian Trombone Consort). David’s compositions “for the concert hall” are programmed and performed worldwide, and his works have been featured on international competition & festival repertoire lists.

Adept with technology and motivated by problem-solving, David’s interests and skillsets lend themselves well to a wide variety of projects in the realm of visual media. He cherishes all aspects of traditional film scoring and truly loves to play any and every role: from composer to orchestrator to copyist, from conductor to engineer to mock-up artist. Outside of traditional film/TV scoring and orchestrating, David has worked on video games; written, arranged, and produced tracks for SeaWorld; composed music for dance and theatre; and, designed and developed interactive and immersive, sensor-driven music & sound for art installations. He served as Lead Audio Collaborator for The Glass Whispers Project, which was awarded a £14.5k Ingenious Grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering. The project was led by his wife, Dr. Lisa Naas, and the two have collaborated on a number of projects which can be found at inconcertwithglass.com.

David holds degrees from Boston College (B.A., Music), the Peabody Institute (M.M., Trombone), and Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain (M.M. & Graduate Fellowship, Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games). While his indisputable lifelong passion lies with music & audio production, David remains a committed trombonist and educator. He is fluent across genres, has taught privately and at universities, led workshops and special presentations, and guest conducted — including leading a performance of his work Of Chivalry and Valor (winner, National Band Association’s Merrill Jones Composition Contest) at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade in Boston. David is also a seasoned arts administrator with over fifteen years of experience, celebrating significant, noteworthy achievements at internationally renowned institutions such as Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Berklee College of Music, and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

"There’s something about the humanity in his music, the unique mixture of epic grandiosity and intimate vulnerability, that speaks to me every single time I hear one of his works."
- Jeremy Wilson
(professor at Vanderbilt University & former Trombonist of the Vienna Philharmonic / Vienna State Opera)
